Benog Wildlife Sanctuary

Being part of Rajaji National Park, the Benog Wildlife Sanctuary is located around 7 km from Mussoorie Library Chowk. Established in the year 1993, the sanctuary is also known as ‘Vinog Mountain Quail Sanctuary’. Spreading around 340 hectares of dense forest, the sanctuary is a home to various bird species, including the Mountain Quail, which is on the verge of extinction.

Sanctuary is loved by the trekkers enthusiasts and is a heaven for bird watchers. During the trails, trekkers can find varieties of plants (including medicinal), birds, and animals. Perched at a height of more than 7,000 feet one can easily get a mesmerizing view of snow covered Bandarpunch and Chaukhamba peak.

The major nearby attractions are Jwala Devi Temple, Cloud End, George Everest, and Bhadraj Temple. Due to its scenic view and natural vistas, the place is loved by nature lovers. Sunrise lovers often visit this place due to its magical view. Visitors can easily reach the sanctuary by renting a taxi or two wheelers from both Mussoorie and Dehradun.
