Robbers cave, commonly known as Gucchu Paani is a natural cave, which is located in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. A river flowing through this cave captivates visitors, which is why it becomes a hotspot among the locals and tourists. Surrounded by picturesque landscapes, the Guchu Pani Dehradun offers a beautiful natural setting. Due to its geological formation and the water flowing through a narrow gorge, it creates a fascinating sight among its visitors.
 

Visitors have to wade through shallow water to reach the end of the cave, providing a unique and adventurous experience. The length of Gucchupani cave is around 600 meters, where visitors may come across small to medium sized waterfalls, one of which is around 12 meters high.

It is believed that during the 1800s, robbers used this cave to stash their stolen goods and as a hideout, which is why this cave is known as "Robber's Cave". Today, this place is one of the popular tourist attractions in Dehradun and a must-visit spot for nature and adventure lovers. After Sahastradhara, Lachhiwala, and Maldevta, Robbers Cave serves as the perfect spot to escape from the scorching heat.
 

Guchhu Pani Dehradun Ticket Price

To explore this natural wonder, visitors need to pay an entry fee of Rs 35/- per person, which may vary over the time. Children below the age of 5 are exempt from the entry fee. Visitors can collect their tickets from the ticket counter located at its entrance gate. If visiting by your personal vehicle, visitors need to pay an additional parking fee ranging between Rs 20/- to Rs 50/-, depending on the vehicle type.
 

Dehradun Robbers Cave Timings

Guchu Paani generally opens at 7:00 AM during summer and closes at 6:00 PM. However, the entry timing may vary during the monsoon and winter seasons.
 

Water Pool

After enjoying Robbers Cave, you can also visit the private water pool located near the location. Separate water pools have been made for both men and women. Visitors need to pay a separate fee to enter these pools.

Important Tips for Visitors

  • Bring your own slippers, or rent a pair by paying a nominal fee.
  • Avoid visiting during peak hours and weekends, as the place may become overcrowded.
  • The road leading to the spot from the main road is narrow and causes traffic congestion, especially during peak hours and weekends.
  • A 300 to 500 meters section near the spot has a steep slope, which may cause difficulty while commuting.
  • If you are a claustrophobic person, it is advisable to avoid visiting, as the cave is narrow in many areas.
  • As the passage leading to the cave is narrow, it can cause breathing issues in overcrowding situations.
  • Avoid visiting during monsoon or on rainy days, as flash floods may occur.

By Road : - Gucchupani is well connected by road from all parts of Dehradun. It is located around 8 km from Dehradun Clock Tower and 15 km from Dehradun ISBT. Autos, Vikrams, City Buses, and taxis are readily available to access the place.
 

By Rail : - The nearest railway station is Dehradun railway station, which is around 10 km from the cave. Visitors can avail the transportation services like Auto, Taxi, City Bus to reach the destination.
 

By Air : - The nearest Airport is Jolly Grant Airport, which is around 34 km away. Taxis are the most convenient mode of transport to reach the location.

Best Time to Visit

As the place is open to visitors throughout the year, but the best time to experience its beauty is during the summer season. However, during peak summers, this place is overcrowded and causes heavy traffic as well. It is advisable to avoid this place during monsoon.
