Tourists often frequented here to enjoy bathe in its cold water pools but were amazed with its captivating scenic beauty. The water cascades through the limestone stalactites to form the Sulphur rich therapeutic spring here are rare to find. The area is surrounded with utmost tranquility, with rich Himalayan vegetation enhancing its charm.

For those who wish to explore the scenic panoramic view of the surrounding from top, can avail a ropeway service. At the top, visitors also find a Sai temple and an artificial park.

Sahastradhara also features an amusement park called "A Joyland Water Park", which also attracts tourists, especially families. Usually, the morning and evening time is considered the best, because the midday temperature on hot sunny days can be extremely high. During summer vacations, the place throngs with the number of tourists that often make this place overcrowded.

Ancient Shiva Temple

Visitors can find a cave of Guru Dronacharya Ji and a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. As per the folklore, the revered Guru Dronacharya penance here to please Lord Shiva. Inside the cave, one can find the water continuously dripping from the Stalactites onto a Shivling, which resembles the Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple.

By Road : - Located around 24 km from Dehradun ISBT and 17 km from the iconic Clock Tower. Buses, taxis and app based cab services are readily available from ISBT, the railway station and Parade Ground. Two Wheeler rental facility is also easily accessible from the major locations.

By Rail : - The nearest railway station is Dehradun which is situated around 19 km away. City Buses and taxis provide convenient transportation options.

By Air : - The nearest airport is in Jolly Grant Airport, which is around 34 km away. Apart from other available option taxis being the most convenient option to access the spot.

Best Time to Visit

As the site is known for its water pools, the ideal time to visit Sahastradhara is during the summers. Avoid weekends during summer vacations as the place is overcrowded, particularly during this time. However, the place is open throughout the year, so it is also advisable to avoid visiting during monsoon season.
