About
Nestled in the Shivalik Hills, Rajaji National Park is a prominent national park and tiger reserve located across the Haridwar, Dehradun, and Pauri Garhwal regions. Visitors can enjoy an exciting jungle safari in an open jeep to witness the diverse wildlife of the region. Spread across 1,075 sq. km, the park is home to a rich and wide variety of wildlife, including Cheetah, elephant, bear, deer, cobra, leopard, nilgai, monitor lizard, and more.
The park is divided into five safari Zones, with Chilla being the most prominent. Visitors can book a Rajaji National Park Jungle safari online or directly at the ticket counters of the respective zone.
Safari Zone
Located in the foothills of the Shivalik Hills, Rajaji National Park is a hidden gem for adventure and nature enthusiasts. It is easily accessible from Dehradun, Haridwar, and Rishikesh. To manage such a huge area, the park is divided into five safari zones, namely Chaurasi Kutiya, Chilla, Motichur, Haridwar, and Chillawali (Mohand) range.
Each zone has a unique speciality, where you can spot diverse wildlife, stunning landscapes, and various bird species. The park's rich flora and fauna attract various birds, photographers, and nature lovers alike. Similar to Jim Corbett National Park, visitors can enjoy a jeep jungle safari.
Entry Timing
Rajaji Tiger Reserve remains open to visitors from November 15 to June 15. During the monsoon (June 16 to November 14), the reserve remains closed for day visits, except Chaurasi Kutiya (The Beatles Ashram).

History
Established in 1983, Rajaji National Park was formed after merging three wildlife sanctuaries, Chilla, Motichur and Rajaji. The park was named after C Rajagopalachari, India's First and last Governor General of Independent India. In 2015, the government rewarded it with the status of a Tiger reserve.

Important Tips for Travellers
- Travellers must book their safari and accommodation in advance to avoid any last-minute rush.
- Maximum 6 adults and 2 children or 1 adult and 6 children (below 12 years) are allowed in one permit.
- Children under 12 are not charged for a day visit.
- Groups must have a valid number for eVerification.
- All tourists must report to the entrance gate 20 minutes before the last entry time.
- Tourists arriving late will not be entertained and are not liable for any refund.
- Any visitor can act as a group leader; details are required during registration.
- Students below 12 must furnish a school ID Card issued by their respective school and principal.
- Senior citizens above 60 years must present a valid age proof for fee concession.
- Visitors with disabilities must present a valid certificate issued by the CMO for fee concession.
- Paid Parking facilities are available near each zone.
- Apply sunscreen and mosquito repellent on your body.
- Carry sufficient cash for the journey, as the network is limited in the area.
- Carry photo identification proof for verification; a passport is mandatory for foreigners.
- Wear a cap and dull-coloured clothing during the Safari.
- Avoid getting out of the vehicle, except it is allowed.
- Carry enough water and a litter bag during the safari.

- Visitors can book their Rajaji National Park Jungle Safari both online and offline.
- Offline registration can be done at the respective safari zone counter, while an online permit can be generated through the official website rajajitigerreserve.uk.gov.in.
- For online permit booking, visit the website and select the date from the calendar.
- Choose the shift for the zone you wish to visit and press the "Book Now".
- Select the number of visitors and proceed.
- Share the details of each visitor.
- Provide the group leader with details.
- Check the box and proceed to pay the fees.
- Enter the OTP received on the group leader's mobile number and proceed.
- Complete the payment using the available means.
How to Reach
By Road: Rajaji National Park (Chilla Range) is located around 10 km from Haridwar Bus Stand. It is easily accessible from all major locations such as Delhi, Dehradun, Meerut and more. Public transport is available to Haridwar, from there, visitors need to hire a taxi.
By Rail: The nearest railway stations are Haridwar, Rishikesh, and Dehradun. They all offer decent connectivity from Delhi and other major rail heads. From the respective stations, visitors can hire taxi or local transportation to reach the respective Zones.
By Air : The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport, in Dehradun, around 40 km from Haridwar. 27 km from Dehradun, and 16 km from Rishikesh. Taxis are readily available from the airport to access the respective safari zones.
Best Time to Visit
The ideal time to visit the park is from March to June, when visitors can spot a variety of wildlife.
