About

Situated in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand, Jim Corbett National Park is known for its rich biodiversity. Established in the year 1936, it is India's first National Park. The park is particularly famous for the highest number of tigers among all national parks in India. Every year, thousands of tourists visit here for Jungle Safari, to experience its wilderness and rich flora and fauna.

In addition to its Jungle Safari, people can enjoy fishing, explore the Corbett Museum and visit the Corbett waterfall, located within the park. Initially named Hailey National Park, it was later changed to honour the renowned conservationist and naturalist Jim Corbett, who saved several lives from man-eater tigers.

Parks rich flora and fauna

Spreading over 1288 square kilometres, the park houses more than 110 species of trees, 55 species of mammals, 580 bird species, and 25 reptile species. Tourists enjoy jungle safaris throughout the year, especially during November and June. Divided into eight zones, each zone of Jim Corbett promises to offer a scenic view of the jungle and opportunity to spot a variety of animals; such as Royal Bengal Tiger, Asiatic Elephant, Bear, Deer, Otters and more than 650 species of indigenous and migratory birds species.

Apart from the Jungle Safari, nights at Corbett offer an adventurous experience. Most of its zones feature Forest Rest House (FRH), each with its unique significance and history. In addition, visitors can also explore the butterfly park, museum, and interpretation centre that exhibits the wonder of Corbett and the natural world.
