About
Dakpathar is a small hill town village in Vikasnagar, Dehradun district. Situated along the Yamuna River, it is generally known for the Dakpathar Barrage. Interestingly, the right bank of the barrage lies in Himachal Pradesh, while the left bank is in Uttarakhand. Set on the foothills of Shivalik ranges, the site produces a picturesque landscape, especially during monsoon season. It is a popular picnic spot and a perfect weekend getaway attracting visitors from nearby places.
A family Park
Located in Pachwa Doon, the Dakpathar Barrage is about 44 km from Dehradun. It is easily accessible from nearby places like Himachal Pradesh, Dehradun, and Saharanpur. The barrage park offers a tranquil environment to its visitors, where they can enjoy quality time with friends and family. Located next to the Yamuna river, the park offers a panoramic view of the area, especially in the evening.

The park consists of several attractions, such as selfie points, fountains, scenic view of the Yamuna, and a children's play area. The children's zone is equipped with toy trains, toy aeroplane, toy cars, and swings. On weekends and holidays, the park is surrounded with many couples, families, and students.
Whereas, it also features females statues and rock structures to attract visitors. Additionally, it is a home to various pigeons and rabbits. In the parking area, visitors can also enjoy a camel ride, which offers a unique experience.

Besides its scenic beauty, the park also features various food stalls offering a variety of food options, especially Chinese.

An entry fee of Rs 15/- per person is required to access the park. You can purchase tickets from its ticket counter by paying cash or through UPI.

- Flying drone near the park is allowed with a fee of Rs 500/-
- An entry fee is required to access the park.
- Barrage is a no waiting zone, it is recommended do not stop or stand near it.

By Road : - Dakpathar is about 44 km from Dehradun ISBT and is easily accessible by road. You can take a city bus service from Dehradun ISBT to reach the location. However, visitors need to hire an auto or e-rickshaw from Dakpathar bus stand to reach the site, which is 1 km away from the Dakpathar barrage. For direct access, visitors can hire a cab or rent a two wheeler.
By Rail : - Dehradun Railway Station is the nearest one, approximately 43 km away from the site. Taxis are readily available from the station to access the location, while for bus services visitors need to reach the ISBT, which is about 5.5 km away from the railway station.
By Air : - The closest airport is Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun, located around 69 km away. Taxis are the most convenient options to access the location from the airport.
Best Time to Visit
The best time to enjoy the scenic beauty of the Dakpathar barrage is from August to March. Due to dry conditions in peak summer months, the experience may not be as enjoyable.
