Bashik Mahasu Temple is one of the four revered Mahasu temples, located in Maindrath. Temple is located around 164 km from Dehradun and is just 6 km away from Tiuni, Uttarakhand. This ancient temple is quite renowned in Jaunsar Bawar region, drawing a large number of devotees from far and wide. Its intricate design and incredible craftsmanship is truly stunning. The lush green mountains in the backdrop, adding a unique charm to this temple. This wood is mostly donated by the villagers, reflecting their culture and devotion to the deity. Mahasu Devta is the presiding deity of the Jaunsar-Bawar region, regarded as the incarnation of Lord Shiva. The deity is considered to be a group of four brothers (Bashik, Pavasi, Chalda, and Botha). The temple at Maindrath is particularly dedicated to Bashik Maharaj Ji. Mahasu Maharaj is renowned as the God of Justice, which is the reason why the water adjuration system is still prevalent in the town. The region is known for various Mahasu Temple; such as : -

  • Location doesn't offer direct bus services, you need to change transport at least once to reach the temple.
  • Buses are available up to Tiuni, after which visitors need to cover the remaining distance by shared taxi.
  • It is advisable to book a taxi for a comfortable and hassle free journey.
  • If planning to stay within the location, book your accommodation in advance.
  • Temple offers pleasant weather during summers, but nights are chilly, so it is recommended to carry warm clothes.
  • Avoid visiting during monsoon season, as it can pose unforeseen challenges like landslides and road blockages.
  • Due to scarcity of ATMs, visitors are recommended to carry sufficient cash.
  • Gas stations in the region are limited, so ensure your vehicle's tank is full.
  • Medical stores are also limited in the area, carrying emergency medicine is recommended.
  • Due to limited network coverage, online payment apps may face difficulties-carrying cash as backup.

How to Reach

By Road : - The Bashik Mahasu Temple is approximately 164 km away from Dehradun ISBT. State buses operate daily from both Dehradun and Vikasnagar bus stand up to Tiuni. From Tiuni, visitors can take a shared taxi service or book a cab to reach the temple.
 

By Rail : - Dehradun railway station is the nearest one, which is about 163 km away from the temple. It is well connected with Delhi, UP, and other major rail heads. From the station, visitors can book cabs, while buses are available from ISBT, which is just 5 km away.
 

By Air : - The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun, about 190 km away. It offers good connectivity from major cities like Delhi, Jaipur, Lucknow, Bangalore, and Mumbai. From the airport, you can either book a taxi directly to the location or can reach ISBT for bus service.

Best Time to Visit

It can be accessed round the year, but for a wholesome experience, it is best to visit between February to May and September to December. Visitors can also come during Bhadon Month to celebrate the Jagda festival and experience the rich culture of the region. However, it is not recommended to visit during monsoon, which may present various challenges.
