About

Vasudhara Falls, a prominent waterfall in Uttarakhand, is known for its stunning white cascading waterfall and its religious significance. Set against the background of a 145 m high cliff, its water falls from the staggering height of over 400 feet. After falling from a steep height, the water performs various backflips before touching the ground. Surrounded by rocky terrain and lush green valleys, the beauty and charm of Vasudhara are unmatched, luring visitors from far and wide.

During the trek to the falls, one can catch a glimpse of Chaukhamba, Nilkantha, and Balakun peak, known as Alkapuri, the abode of Kubera (the God of wealth). The water of Vasudhara Falls is enriched with Ayurvedic herbs and is known for its therapeutic benefits. It is believed that the water of this falls does not touch those who are sinners. If you wish to test the purity of your soul, visiting this holy waterfall is a must.

Road to Heaven

Situated at an elevation of over 12,000 feet, Vasudhara Falls is located in Uttarakhand's Chamoli District. The name "Vasudhara" is formed from two words, Vasu and Dhara. Here, Vasu refers to Lord Vishnu and Dhara, means the path of a river, thus it means the path of Lord Vishnu.

It is also the same route where the Pandavas embark on their journey to heaven (Swargarohini Parvat). According to mythology, only the eldest of the Pandavas, Yudhisthira, accompanied by a dog, reached the heaven, making this trail religiously significant.

Religious Significance

Uttarakhand is home to various waterfalls, such as Tiger Falls in Chakrata, Kempty Falls in Mussoorie, Neer Waterfall in Rishikesh, and Corbett Waterfalls in Corbett National Park. Yet, Vasudhara stand out due to its spiritual significance. Pilgrims often collect its water for religious rituals. It is said that if a person is impure and sinful, the water will not touch their body, while if their body is pure, then it will fall upon them. Many people stand beneath the waterfall just to test this ancient belief.
