Rashtrapati Tapovan is now open to the general public and can be visited between 9 am and 5 pm. It is a perfect place for those seeking peace and tranquillity in the middle of city chaos. In addition to this, it may also attract nature lovers and those who always feel a deep connection with the natural world. Once used by the British officers, the park is fully renovated and is now open to the general public.
 

Spans across 19 acres, Rashtrapati Tapovan in Dehradun is surrounded by lush greenery where you can spend some time with nature, enjoy birdwatching, and discover serene spots for meditation. Located at Rajpur Road, it is just 4 km from Dehradun Clock Tower and is easily accessible using local transportation.

A serene place

Nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas, Rashtrapati Tapovan is the perfect place where you can enjoy a natural retreat. It was inaugurated by President Droupadi Murmu on her 67th Birthday, June 20, 2025. After its inauguration, the park is now open to the general public from June 24, 2025. Along with this, the President also inaugurated Rashtrapati Niketan, which will be open to the general public from July 1, 2025.
 

The park will remain open from Tuesday to Sunday and will be closed on Mondays. To access the park, visitors need to pay an entry fee, and tickets can be booked online. Individuals can book a maximum of 30 tickets at a time, whereas schools and colleges can book 50. Upon showing a valid ID proof, all government schools and Kendriya Vidyalaya, along with teachers, are exempted from entry fees.

Dehradun Rashtrapati Tapovan is known for some of its major attractions such as: -

  • Animal Sculptures: - Various animal sculptures are placed throughout the park, which usually captivate kids. A QR code scanner is also installed near each scripture, providing detailed information about it.
  • Decorative Garden Landscape: Visitors can enjoy the beautifully designed Garden landscape, which adds to the visual charm.
  • Wooden Bridges: Along the walking trail inside the park, you will come across appealing wooden bridges. Though the size of the bridges is small but walking over them adds to the experience.
  • Natural Trails: A lot of natural trails have been created throughout the park, which gives this park a unique and immersive atmosphere.

Timing

Rashtrapati Tapovan can be explored by the visitor from Tuesday to Sunday. The park will remain closed to visitors on every Monday and on gazetted holidays. You can visit the park on the given day from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Visitors are required to pay an entry fee to access Rashtrapati Tapovan. To pay the Rashtrapati Tapovan entry fee, visitors need to book their tickets online, as on-site ticket booking is not available.   • You must choose the date and time of your visit from the calendar while booking.
  • Indian children below 8 years will not be charged any entry fee.
  • Government and Kendriya Vidyalaya school students and teachers are also exempted from fees.
  • Select any one ID type from the list while booking and carry the same ID during your visit.
  • Except for credit card payments, all other payment modes will not incur any additional charges.

By Rail : - The nearest railway station is Dehradun Railway Station, around 6 km away. From the station, you can hire an auto or use local public transportation options like city buses, vikram, and Tata Magic, etc.
 

By Air : - The closest airport to the location is Dehradun Jolly Grant Airport, around 33 km away. From there, you can either book a cab to access the location directly or travel to Dehradun for other transportation options.
