Situated just 8 km from Mussoorie, Sir George Everest Peak is one of the major attractions among tourists. Named after British Surveyor Sir George Everest, who measured the height of the tallest peak in the world, Mt Everest, earlier this peak was known as XV. Served as a Surveyor General of India from 1830-1843, Sir George Everest is largely known for his meridian arc survey. The George Everest House and Library, known as Park Estate, was first built in 1932. Being a popular heritage site, this site is completely restored by the Uttarakhand Government.

Today this place is known for its activities like camping, trekking and air safari, attracting a multitude of visitors from far and wide. Perched at a height of 2,005 meters, the peak offers a breathtaking view of the Doon Valley and the Himalayas. Visitors can access the place by booking a taxi or two wheeler from Dehradun or Mussoorie Library Chowk. Visitors need to pay an entry fee of Rs 200 per person. From the base point, the visitor has the option either to trek a distance of one km or opt for the golf cart service to reach the destination.

How to Reach

George Everest Peak Point is located in Khanij Nagar near Mussoorie. Situated around 40 km from Dehradun ISBT and 8 km from Mussoorie Gandhi Chowk, this destination is accessible by road with taxi and cabs services are available up to its base location. To access the exact location, visitors need to trek around one km from the base area. Taxi and cabs services are readily available from Dehradun ISBT, Railway station and other major locations. The nearest railway station and airport are located in Dehradun, approximately 36 km and 62 km away, respectively.

Best Time to Visit

Well the location is open throughout the year, but the most preferable time to explore this place is from September to June. visitors must avoid heavy rainfall and snowfall season as it may cause various potential issues.
