Tapt Kund is a hot water spring which extracts hot water from ‘Garur Shilla’. Tapt Kund is located between Badrinath temple and Alaknanda River. Usually, before entering the Badrinath shrine, the devotees took a holy dip in this hot water. It is hard to believe, but the temperature of the Tapt Kund is around 45 degrees but while taking a holy dip you won’t feel its temperature. As per the mythology, it is to be believed that this kund extracts hot water because Agni Deva resides in it. This tapt kund has the ability to cure body ailments and purify the soul, that’s why it's a common practice to have a sacred bath in it.
