Sainya Dham

To honour the martyr soldiers, the Uttarakhand government has constructed a military shrine called "Sainya Dham". It is the first of its kind military memorial in the country, located on the outskirts of Dehradun in Guniyala Village. Along with the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Sainya Dham will become another significant landmark of the Indian Army. It is not just a place, but an emotional tribute, especially for the families of those who have lost their loved ones while serving the nation on the front line.
 

Set against the background of Mussoorie, the surrounding scenery adds to the grandeur of this memorial. Every detail of the Sainya Dham reflects the government's respect and gratitude towards the Indian army and its fallen heroes.

Sainya Dham- Uttarakhand's Fifth Dham

The Dham features the names of the 1,734 martyred soldiers from across the country. To honour the martyr, Sainya Dham also preserves the soil collected from their respective homes. The complex features a pillar of eternal flame called "Amar Jawan Jyoti", which contains water from 28 sacred rivers across the nation. Spread across 4 hectares of land, Sainya Dham is revered as the fifth dham of Uttarakhand, after the religious Char Dham circuit.
 

Note: Currently, the construction of Sainya Dham is in its final stage and will open for visitors after its official inauguration.

What Does Sainya Dham Feature?

Uttarakhand's Sainya Dham is situated approximately 21 km from Dehradun ISBT, in Guniyala Village at Rajpur Road. Along with the names of the soldiers, the Sainya Dham also features a museum, which showcases the stories of the martyrs. Besides this, its premises also feature a 120-foot-tall national flag, war tanks, naval models and other military equipment.

Honouring General Bipin Rawat- The First CDS

Dehradun's Sainya Dham also houses a bust of late General Bipin Rawat, India's first CDS (Chief of Defence Staff) and former army chief. Along with this, the main gate of the dham is also named after him.

Hero of Nathula and the 1962 War

The Dham also highlights the brave and inspiring history of the Late Sepoy Captain Baba Harbhajan Singh. It is believed that the Hero of Nathula, Baba Harbhajan Singh, is still serving the nation even after his death. Alongside him, the complex also features a temple dedicated to Late Baba Jaswant Singh, the Hero of the 1962 War. In his honour, a field in Derhadun's Garhi Cantt has already been dedicated.
 

All in all, Sainya Dham reiterates the stories of the brave soldiers who gave their supreme sacrifice for their country. It not only commemorates their martyrdom but also reflects their bravery and love for the nation, which will somehow motivate us and our upcoming generation to contribute towards the betterment of our nation.

Entry Ticket

Sainya Dham is currently not open to the public as its construction is still underway. Thus, visitors will be charged to enter the Sainya Dham, or it will be free of charge is yet to be decided.
