About

Dedicated to Narsingh Devta, the fourth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, this temple is located in Joshimath, Uttarakhand. Situated around 286 km from Dehradun, this temple is renowned for its folklore and antiquity. This revered shrine is one of the seven Badri, collectively known as Sapt Badri, where devotees from far and wide seek blessing of Lord Narasimha at this temple. It is said that the idol of the temple is made of Shaligram Stone, built by the Kashmir King Lalitaditya Muktapida during the 8th Century. However, many legends believe that the image of the idol is self manifested.

The Idol, located in the sanctum sanctorum, is about 10 inches and depicts that the god is sitting in the form of a lotus, which is worth seeing for any devotee. It is said that the Narsimha temple has a connection with the Bhavishya Badri temple, situated around 21 km away. Legends believed that the size of the idol is gradually shrinking, which aligns to some extent with scholar prophecy. According to the legends, when the Kaliyuga era is at its fag end, the hand of the idol will fall off. Due to this incident, the Jay and Vijay mountains, the gatekeepers of Badrinath, will collapse, and the route to Badrinath will be closed forever. It will be the end of Kaliyuga Era and dawn of the Satyug Era starts, where Lord Badri will be worshiped at Bhavishya Badri temple.
