Mata Murti temple, a revered shrine, is located in Chamoli, Uttarakhand. Nestled amidst lush green Himalayas, this temple is situated on the bank of Alaknanda River. This temple is dedicated to the mother of twin brothers Badrinath and Nara. The Temple often receives heavy snowfall during winters, offering a mesmerizing and enchanting view of the surrounding. Being ancient this temple has its own significance, attracting people from afar seeking blessing.
It is believed that offering prayer to the deity will free you from materialistic life. According to the legends, Mata murti offered prayer to Lord Vishnu, requesting him to take birth from his womb. Her humble request was accepted, and Lord Vishnu incarnated from her womb in twin forms, called Nar and Badrinath. Every year, in the month of September, a huge fair is organized by the locals on the auspicious day of Shravan Dwadashi, attracting a number of people from local and afar. Devotees need to trek a short distance of 3 km from Badrinath to reach the temple.

Bus and shared taxi services are readily available from Dehradun and Rishikesh bus and taxi stands. Nearest railway station is in Haridwar, about 321 km away, while the nearest airport is in Dehradun, around 302 km away.
Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit is from May to June and September to October. The monsoon and winter seasons are not the ideal to visit, as visitors may encounter various issues during these times.
