Finally, the Kedarnath Opening Date 2026 has been officially announced by the BKTC. One of the most revered shrines of Lord Shiva, the Kedarnath Temple, will reopen for the devotees on April 22, 2026. The shrine portal will open for the devotees at 8:00 AM. After the announcement of the opening date of Kedarnath Temple, the Char Dham Yatra 2026 schedule has also been finalised.

Like the other three dhams, the Kedarnath Temple also remains open to devotees for six months a year, usually from April/May to October/November. During the winter months, the temple remains closed to pilgrims, and the deity is worshipped at the Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath, which serves as its winter seat.

In 2026, the portal of Kedarnath Dham is to open on April 22, 2026. Being the third shrine of the Char Dham Yatra, the Kedarnath Temple portal opens after the portals of Yamunotri and Gangotri. After completing a 59 km journey from its winter seat, Ukhimath, the Panchmukhi Doli of Baba Kedarnath arrives at Kedarnath on its opening day. In 2026, around 30,000 devotees are likely to visit Kedarnath on its opening day. Like the previous year, Char Dham Yatra Registration is mandatory for all devotees, which can be done online or at dedicated registration counters in Rishikesh.
