Shri Dakshin Kali Mandir is a revered Siddh Peeth which is located in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. Goddess Kali is the presiding deity of the temple. Dakshin Kali Mata Mandir- A temple built over 108 Narmund

Located near Chandi Ghat and the Chandi Devi Ropeway point, the Dakshin Kali Mata Mandir is a revered shrine in Haridwar. Neel Dhara, at the back of the temple, flows towards the south, hence giving the name to the temple "Dakshin Kali Mandir". It is believed that Goddess Kali herself instructed Mahaguru Kamraj Ji Maharaj to establish the temple at this site. Founded in Vikram Samvat 1753, the Haridwar Dakshin Kali Mata Mandir stands on 108 Narmund.

Largest Eternal Flame of North India

The main sanctum of Haridwar Dakshin Kali Temple houses the idol of Goddess Kaali, a Shivalinga, and Bhairav Baba. After seeking the deity's blessings, it is a must for all devotees to offer a prayer at the Bhairav Baba, which completes your pilgrimage.
 

Within the main shrine, there is an eternal flame, which is believed to be the largest of its kind in North India. The view of the Neel Dhara from the rear side of the temple looks majestic, especially during the morning and evening hours.

Akhand Dhuna of Dakshin Kali Mandir

At the back side of the temple, a few steps lead to the sanctum sanctorum, which houses another idol of Goddess Kali. Here, the Goddess Kali is worshipped, especially at midnight. There is also an Akhand Dhuna, which is believed to have been burning continuously for the last 700 years. On auspicious days, particularly on Saturdays, devotees also organise a bhandara. The Dakshin Kali Temple is also known as the Tara Peeth, as Goddess Tara is regarded as one of the fierce forms of Goddess Kali.

Although the Dakshin Kali Mandir is visited by devotees throughout the year, the atmosphere during the Navratri is particularly different. Devotees usually offer prasad, sweets, flowers, shringar, coconut and red chunri to the deity. These items are easily available at the prasad shops located outside the temple. After offering the prasad, the priest returns the coconut to the devotees, which must be broken at the designated place within the temple premises.
