Subhash Ghat is one of the significant Ghat in Haridwar, named after the illustrious freedom fighter, Subhash Chandra Bose. Situated near Har Ki Pauri, it holds a cultural and historical significance. A statue of Subhash Chandra Bose is also installed here, to give a tribute to his legacy. For his commemorative significance, the volunteer service committee also provides free medical care to the devotees. Devotees visit here during their pilgrimage and partake in the sacred ritual of bathing in the holy Ganga river.

Every year lakhs of people visit Haridwar for a holy dip in sacred Ganges river to absolve their sins. On many occasions, the Ganga Ghat is filled with many devotees. Among them, Har Ki Pauri Ghat is one of the prominent ghats in Haridwar. However, ghat like Vishnu Ghat, Asthi Parvah Ghat and Subhash Ghat holds their own significance. People often visit these ghats on particular occasions to attain Moksha.
 

Situated around 2 km from Har Ki Pauri, Subhash Ghat offers a majestic view of Ganga river. At night, artificial lights illuminate this ghat bringing it to life and offers mesmerizing view of the Ganga river.

Subhash Ghat is one of the many Ganga Ghats which is located in the sacred city of Haridwar, Uttarakhand. Situated on the banks of Ganga it is just 2 to 3 km away from Haridwar's bus stand and railway station. The city is well connected by two major modes of transportations; such as road and rail.
 

State run buses operate daily from their respective terminals to Haridwar, along with private operators. On the other hand, express trains like Shatabdi, Jan Shatabdi and Vande Bharat connect Haridwar to major rail hubs across the country, making it feasible for the visitors to access the place.

  • Har Ki Pauri : - Located just 2 km from the Ghat, Har Ki Pauri is the most famous and pious ghat in Haridwar. This ghat is usually throng with the visitors, even on regular days. Taking a dip at this ghat has a great spiritual significance.
  • Shakti Peeths : - Haridwar is home to many religious sites including Mansa Devi, Chandi Devi and Maya Devi Temple. Known as Shakti Peeth, these temples hold immense spiritual significance.
  • Ganga Aarti : - Many Pilgrims visit Haridwar especially to attend Ganga Aarti, especially in the evening. The chanting of Vedic mantras and holy hymns during the aarti creates a distinctive experience.

  • For a wholesome experience, devotees must plan their visit between September and April.
  • Summer in Haridwar is extremely hot and humid, so visitors are advised to complete their rituals or ceremonies in the morning.
  • Enjoy the panoramic view of Haridwar by taking ropeway service to Mansa and Chandi Devi Temple.
  • Be cautious while taking a dip in the river. Hold the chain tightly and never cross the security barrier near the ghat.

How to Reach

By Road : - Subhash Ghat is located around 2 km from Haridwar Bus Stand. Visitors can reach the ghat by taking local transportation such as Autos and E-Rickshaws. Haridwar is well connected by the road and can be accessed easily by bus and taxi. Daily bus operates from Dehradun, Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Lucknow and other major places to Haridwar. The City is around 225 km away from national capital Delhi and 53 km from Dehradun.
 

By Rail : - Haridwar Junction is the nearest railway station, which is approximately 3 km from Subhash Ghat. Haridwar Railway Junction is one of the major rail routes in Uttarakhand, providing excellent connectivity across the country. Visitors can take an auto and e-rickshaw from the station to reach the ghat.
 

By Air : - The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun, which is about 38 km away. This airport provides better connectivity to major Indian Cities like Delhi, Bangalore, Jaipur, Mumbai, Lucknow and others. Visitors can hire a taxi from the airport to reach the ghat.

Best Time to Visit

People often visit here during their pilgrimage to Haridwar. Generally, the ideal time to visit is from September to March because during summer you may experience severe heat waves and heavy rain during monsoon. Whereas, one may also experience a huge influx during Special Occasions like Basant Panchmi, Mauni Amavasya, and during other Shahi Snan.
