Bhavishya Badri is located approximately 315 km from Dehradun in Chamoli, Uttarakhand. The shrine is connected by a motorable road up to Saldhar, from there pilgrims need to trek 6 km to reach it. Bus and taxi services are available from Dehradun and Rishikesh bus and taxi stands. The shrine is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, where pilgrims worship him in his tenth avatar, known as Narasimha.

Legend has it that at the onset of Kalyug, when evil will spread across the world, the ever withering arm of Narsingh idol at Joshimath will fall off. Due to this event, the Jay and Vijay mountains, the gatekeepers of Vishnu’s abode, will collapse and make the present shrine of Badrinath inaccessible to pilgrims. Consequently, the Badrinath will worship at Bhavishya Badri.

Further, at the end of the Kalyug era, Vishnu will incarnate as Kalki to destroy the world, and the Satyug era will begin again. Afterwards, Badrinath pilgrimage will be re-established at Bhavishya Badri.
