About

The Bajrang Setu- Glass Bridge in Rishikesh is set to open to the public in December 2025. Once inaugurated, it will be India's longest glass bridge, measuring 132 metres in length. The bridge is a mixture of modern technologies, adventure, and devotion.

It is being built to replace the century-old iconic Laxman Jhula, which has been closed since 2019 due to safety concerns. Located near the Trayambakeshwar Temple, popularly known as Terah Manjil Mandir, the Bajrang Setu is a modern suspension bridge, divided into three sections. Its central part will be used by small vehicles, while the other two paths are reserved for pedestrians.

Besides its stunning glass structure, the entrance and exit pillars of the bridge are equally remarkable, as they symbolically represent the image of Kedarnath and Badrinath Temple.

India's first Suspension Glass Bridge

Constructed over the sacred Ganga River, Rishikesh Bajrang Setu is India's first suspension glass bridge. It will offer a unique and thrilling experience for both tourists and locals alike. Connecting Tehri with Pauri District, the bridge features a 5 metre wide deck for light vehicles, and 1.5 metre-wide glass walkways on both sides. Walking over a glass bridge with a clear view of the Ganga flowing below is sure to give you goosebumps.

The construction work is in its final stage, and the bridge is likely to open to the public by the end of this year. The 66 mm-thick glass panels used in the structure can easily withstand heavy footfall and varying weather conditions. Following the Dobra Chanti Bridge, India's longest motorable suspension bridge, the Bajrang Setu- Rishikesh Glass bridge will mark another engineering marvel and provide a significant boost to tourism. Like Janki Setu, the Bridge is likely to be ornate, with light that illuminates its charm at night.
