Sati Ghat is one of the ancient ghats in Haridwar, located in the Kankhal area. The ghat is primarily known for the Asthi Visarjan, the sacred Hindu ritual for ash immersion. Sati Practice
Haridwar Sati Ghat is historically linked with a popular Hindu custom, called Sati Pratha, that has now been abolished. In this practice, a widow immolated herself on her deceased husband's pyre. Several women have undergone this practice at this Sati Ghat. Today, the memories of those women are preserved here in the form of small temples constructed near the site.

Thanks to the third Guru of Sikhs, Guru Amardas Ji Maharaj, who played a significant role in raising awareness to abolish such social practices in Haridwar. To honour his effort, a Gurudwara was constructed near the site, known as the Tap Asthan of Guru Amardas Ji.

By Rail: Haridwar Railway Station is the closest railhead, situated approximately 5 km from Sati Ghat. From the station, visitors can easily hire auto, tempo and e-rickshaws to reach the ghat.
By Air: Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun is the nearest airport, located around 41 km from Sati Ghat. Cab and taxi services are readily available from the airport to reach the ghat.
Best Time to Visit
Although Sati Ghat remains open to pilgrims throughout the year, the best time to visit is from August to April. These times are generally more pleasant compared to the other months.
