Panchmukhi Doli of Baba Kedarnath 2026
As the doors of Kedarnath Temple are set to open on 22 April 2026, the Panchmukhi Doli of Baba Kedarnath will leave from its winter seat on 19 April 2026. After following a specific route, Doli will reach the Kedarnath Temple. As we all know, Char Dham remains closed to devotees in the winter. During these times, the deity was placed in its winer seat. The winter seat of Kedarnath Dham is Omkareshwar Temple, Ukhimath.
In accordance with all rituals and traditions, the Panchmukhi Doli of Baba Kedarnath will leave for Kedarnath on 19 April. The doli ceremoniously leaves from its winter seat at the Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath. On this auspicious occasion, the devotees of Kedar Baba gathered from all over the place, showering flowers and chanting "Baba Kedar Jai" with utmost devotion.
Before embarking on the pious Chal Vigrah Utsav Doli Yatra, a special ceremony is performed at Omkareshwar Temple. As part of the ritual, the Panchmukhi idol of Kedar Baba goes through a Panch Snan (a ceremonial bath). Following this, the idol is placed on the decorated doli (Palanquin) and proceeds to Kedarnath Dham.

Kedarnath Baba Panchumukhi Doli Yatra Route
Generally, the Panchmukhi Doli follows its predefined route. During this, the doli stops over at certain places, where the locals welcome the doli with utmost fervour and devotion. Usually, the doli takes around 4 days to reach the temple on its opening date. The route that the Kedarnath Panchumukhi Doli follows is given as;
From Omkareshwar Temple to Guptkashi
To reach Kedarnath Dham, Baba Kedarnath's Panchmukhi Doli covers approximately 59 km from Omkareshwar Temple. Along the way, the doli made stops at designated places, with Guptkashi being the first. At Guptkashi, the doli receives a grand welcome and stays overnight at Vishwanath Temple.
From Guptkashi to Phata
After staying overnight at Vishwanath Temple in Guptkashi, the Panchmukhi Doli of Kedar Baba left for its second halt at Phata, around 14 km away.
From Phata to Gaurikund
On the third day of the yatra, the palanquin will move forward to its next stop, which is Gaurikund. Here, the doli will stay overnight at Gaura Mata Mandir and proceed to its final stop the next morning.
From Gaurikund to Kedarnath Dham
Gaurikund is the last motorable point, and from here the trek route to Kedarnath begins. From here, the doli slowly moves forward to Kedarnath Dham. Several people, along with those who run shops in the trail, welcome Kedar Baba with great enthusiasm and shower flowers.
Kedarnath Dham Portal Opening Day
After completing the journey of 59 km from its winter seat, the Chal Vigrah Utsav Doli will finally arrive at Kedarnath Temple. In the presence of the BKTC committee, the Rawal local authorities, and devotees, the portal of Baba Kedarnath opens around 8:00 AM. The BKTC committee has already done all the preparation for the event. The devotional tunes played by the Indian Army Band create a surreal atmosphere, accompanied by chants of "Kedar Baba Ki Jai". With the portal opening on 22 April, the Kedarnath Yatra for the year 2026 officially begins.
Char Dham Yatra 2026
Kedarnath is the third Dham in the Uttarakhand Char Dham Yatra. In 2026, the Char Dham Yatra begins on the auspicious day of Akshay Tritiya on April 19, 2026. The portals of Yamunotri and Gangotri opened on 19 April, followed by Kedarnath on 22 April and Badrinath Dham on 23 April, 2026. The state government has completed all the preparations for the Char Dham Yatra 2026. Like the previous year, devotees must register for the Char Dham Yatra.
