Widely renowned as the "Queen of Hills," Mussoorie, a popular hill station in India, now requires tourists to pre-register for access. Yes, you read it right. Being the most popular hill station, Mussoorie attracts lakhs of tourists every year. During such times, heavy traffic congestion, with bumper-to-bumper traffic jams, has made the situation worse for visitors seeking peace and fresh air.
 

Mall Road, Kempty Falls, Landour and other nearby attractions have become a new normal in Mussoorie. To control the massive tourist crowd during peak seasons in Mussoorie, the Uttarakhand administration has introduced a pre-registration system for tourists visiting Mussoorie. The Mussoorie online tourist registration link is now available for both tourists and hotel owners. The registration process for tourists began on 8 August, while for hotel owners, it started on 1 August 2025. The Mussoorie Pre-Registration is mandatory for all, whose detailed process, along with the link, is shared below.

Mussoorie Pre-Registration

The Uttarakhand Tourism Department has commenced the registration process for visiting Mussoorie. From August 1, 2025, the hotel owners can register details of the customers visiting Mussoorie based on the bookings they receive. Meanwhile, tourists can also register themselves online from 8 August 2025 at registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in/.

Tourist who have not registered themselves before their arrival need not worry. The department will provide on-spot registration facilities for unregistered visitors. No tourist will be turned back in the absence of pre-registration. However, tourists are advised to register online in advance to avoid any last-minute rush. A QR code will be issued to the registered tourist, which will be checked at three main checkpoints, namely, Kimadi, Kuthalgate, and Kempty Falls.

Mussoorie Tourist Registration Process For Tourists

Pre-registration for tourists in Mussoorie is now open and can be submitted by following the steps provided here.

  • Visit https://registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in/ and, from the home page, select "Mussoorie Registration"

  • Indian tourists need to enter their mobile number, while foreign tourists should provide their email address.

  • Verify the mobile number and email using the OTP received.

  • Once verified successfully, tap the "New Trip" button.

  • Enter your duration of visit and other personal details (as depicted in the image below).

    • Note: Ensure the Mobile number and emergency contact number should not be identical.
  • Select your mode of travel, and provide the vehicle number (if available).

  • Choose the type of accommodation you have booked and provide its name (if any).
  • Select an ID proof from the list, enter its number, and upload a photograph.
  • Enter the details of the person accompanying during the journey (Name, Age and Gender).

  • Before final submission, review all the details carefully.
  • Once confirmed, press the 'Save and Generate letter"
  • After your trip is successfully created, tap the download button to get your trip letter.

How to make changes in the Registration Details

If you want to make any changes to an added trip, follow the steps given here: -

  • Log in using your registered mobile number.

Mussoorie Tourist Registration Process for Hotel Owners

  • Online Mussoorie Tourist Care Registration will be done online.
  • To register, visit the Mussoorie Registration Portal, i.e. https://registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in/mussoorie/.
  • Enter your mobile number, the given captcha code, then click the "Get OTP" tab.

  • After verification, create your profile by providing the following details: -
    • Name
    • Address
    • Type of accommodation
    • Property Name
    • Number of Rooms
    • Total Capacity.

Documents required for Registration

  • Tourists need to share the following documents during Mussoorie Pre-Registration, which are: -
    • Identify Proof (Aadhaar Card/Pan Card/ Voter Card, etc)
    • Vehicle Registration Number (if applicable).
    • Mobile Number.
    • Email ID.

Implementation Period

Based on the news rolling out, the Mussoorie Tourist Pre Registration will be enforced during a certain period, rather than the entire year. Such registrations will likely be carried away during the following period: -

  • Summer Holidays (April to May)
  • Winter Holidays (December to January)

Note: In addition to this, online registration for Mussoorie may also be required on long weekends.

List of Checkpoints

Primarily, Mussoorie is accessible via three routes: Dehradun-Rajpur Road, via Dehradun-Kimadi Road, and via Chakrata-Kempty Falls Road. To make the process effective, the government will set up checkpoints at:-

  • Kimadi.
  • Kuthal Gate, and
  • Kempty Falls.

However, the exact locations of these checkpoints will be determined later. At these checkpoints, tourists' QR codes generated during the Mussoorie tourist registration will be checked, and vehicles will be verified through Automated Number Plate Recognition (ANPR).

Parking Facility

Parking has always remained a major concern for tourists visiting Mussoorie. However, the multi-level car parking facility at KinCraig helps resolve this issue to some extent. At once, more than 200 cars can be accommodated at this multi-level parking in Mussoorie. In addition, some small parking spaces are also available at major locations. During peak season, details of parking availability are updated on the portal, which helps the administration to tackle the situation. Once all available spaces are full, the authority does not allow vehicles beyond a certain point. Instead, they are offered a shuttle service for a nominal charge, while their vehicle are parked in nearby areas.
