Tehri Lake Festival 2026

The Tehri Lake Festival Himalayan O2 2026 is all set to start from March 6 to March 9 2026. The event will be organised by the Uttarakhand Tourism Department Board. After the Tehri Acro Festival, this is one of the major, multi-day events of the district, which features more than 20 activities. The winner in each category will be rewarded with prize money up to Rs 1 Lakh. The festival will be held at Tehri Lake, set against the backdrop of the Himalayas, and will showcase the local culture, cuisine, adventure spots, and musical performances. Tehri Lake Festival 2026

The Uttarakhand Government took the initiative of the Tehri Lake Festival or Mahotsav to promote tourism in Asia's largest man-made lake. Surrounded by the lush green Garhwal Himalayas, Tehri Lake is now one of the major tourist destinations in Uttarakhand. Every year, several tourists, especially adventure enthusiasts from far and wide, visit the lake to enjoy the water sports and other activities. To take this experience to the next level, the government introduced this mahatosav, where you can participate in more than 20 exciting events.

Activities to Participate in the Tehri Lake Festival

This year, youths can participate in 20+ activities, each with different eligibility criteria. Participants can choose their preferred arena where they can showcase their talent at the Tehri Lake Festival, Himalayan O2.

Tehri Lake Festival Prize Money

Winners of each category in the Tehri Lake Festival will be rewarded with an attractive cash prize.

• Winner: Rs 1 Lakh
• First Runner Up: Rs 50,000
• Second Runner Up: Rs 25,000

In addition, 10 consolation prizes of Rs 5,000 will also be distributed.

Tehri Lake Festival Events

Participants can take part in different competitions, with each having different eligibility conditions.

MasterChef Competition

• The contest will be held for three categories, namely:
  • Junior MasterChef: Open for children aged 12 to 18.
  • Women/SHG Master Chef: Open to women and Self-Help Group members aged 18 and above.
  • Professional MasterChef: This category is open to all professionals aged 18 and above.

Photography Competition

• Participants must capture the landscape and spirit of the Tehri district through their lenses.
• This event is open to Indians citizens aged 16 and above.
• Applicants must read all conditions before applying.

Rap Competition

• If you can express the stories and spirit of the Himalayas through rap, this category is for you.
• It is a solo participation event open to people aged 16 to 35.

Group Fashion Show

• In this, you can showcase the contemporary Himalayan aesthetic fashion.
• It is a group participation with a minimum of 5 members, and
• is open for Indian Citizens aged above 16 and above.

Mr and Mrs Tehri

• The event is exclusively for Tehri residents, where participants can showcase their confidence, style and personality.
• Participants will be selected based on clothing, communication skills, personality and stage presence.

Rafting Competition

• Adventure enthusiasts who can showcase their courage and teamwork are welcome to this event.
• It is open to Indian citizens, aged 16 and above.

Painting Competition

• Participants who can portray the emotions and landscapes of the Himalayan region are welcome for this event.
• The event is open to Indian citizens aged 12 and above.

• The Tehri Lake Festival is not limited to participation alone. You can also register as a volunteer or explorer.
• Explorers can enjoy the festival, explore activities, and cheer the participants to boost their morale.

General Rules for the participations

• All events are open to Indian citizens.
• Some events are restricted to Tehri residents, such as Mr and Mrs Tehri.
• Individuals can register for a maximum of three events.
• Participants below 18 are required to submit consent from their parents or guardians.
• The minimum age is 16 years for all events, except painting, which is open to participants aged 12 and above.
• Before registering, read all the conditions of the event carefully.
• For painting and cooking competitions, participants must bring the required items.
• If any participant submits a fake identity or infringes on copyright violation will be disqualified.
• Any late submission for any events will not be accepted and will be marked as disqualified.
• Some events have specific deadlines; check them before applying.
• A badge ID will be issued to all participants, which they must carry on the event day.

By Rail: The closest railway station to Tehri is Yog Nagri Railway Station in Rishikesh, located approximately 78 km away. From the station, visitors may continue their journey by bus or taxi.
 

By Air: The closest airport to Tehri is Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun, around 84 km away. From there, visitors can book a taxi to reach the destination directly or travel to Rishikesh to access other modes of transport.

By Helicopter: Helicopter services to Tehri are also available from Jolly Grant Airport, offered by Heritage Aviation. The service runs two flights daily, with fares of Rs 2,000 per person.
