Haldwani City

Known as the Gateway of Kumaun and the Green City, Haldwani is the largest city in the Kumaun region. Established in 1834, it serves as the most commercial, economic and industrial hub of the state, which is why it received the title of Financial Capital of Uttarakhand. It is one of the 13 subdivisions of Nainital district, which is located in the Bhabhar region.
The name Haldwani is derived from a native Haldu tree, which is found in abundance in the region. With a population of more than 6,56,000, Haldwani is the second most populous city in Uttarakhand. It is known for the Kathgodam Railway Station a major terminus in the region, Shitla Devi Temple, and the Gaula barrage. The city is located around 43 km from Nainital and is well connected by road.
