Valley of Flowers National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site situated in Chamoli District of Uttarakhand State. It was established in 1982 and was recognized as a World Heritage Site on 17 July 2005. The Valley of Flowers is popularly known for its meadows and different species of flowers.

It is also home to rare and endangered animals like the Gray Langur, Flying Squirrel, Black Bear, Red Fox, Himalayan Weasel, Lime Butterfly, and Snow Leopard. The Valley of Flowers covers an area of 87 Square kilometers. Visitors can find over 600 species of flowers, including Orchids, Marigolds, Daiies, Poppies, Primus, and anemones.

The only way to reach the Valley of Flowers is on foot. Trek Distance is approximately 16 km. This trek is one of the most beautiful and popular treks among tourists. Trek is quite challenging and for help Ponies and Porters are also available. Tourists can not stay overnight at the Valley of Flowers and they have to return to Ghangaria by 5 PM.

Valley of Flowers will going to open on 01-06-2025 and close on 31-10-2025.

  • Interested Indian and Foreign tourists who plan to visit the Valley of Flowers National Park will have to obtain a permit first.
  • Permit is a mandatory document that is going to be needed to gain entry in the Valley of Flowers National Park.

  • The Mobile Number of the Tourist will be verified through OTP.

Offline Permit Registration Process of the Valley of Flowers

  • The Government of Uttarakhand also provides the facility to tourists in which they can get their permit to visit the Valley of Flowers directly from the checking counters.
  • Offline Permit Issuing Counters for the Valley of Flowers Visit have been set up in Ghangaria.
  • Reach Ghangaria via Govindghat and obtain a permit from the authority by paying the entry fees and other facility charges if applicable.
  • Indians will show Voter ID, PAN Card or Aadhaar Card for a permit.

Charges Submission and Necessary Permission

  • Filming a Featured Film or a Documentary Film or Using Drones within Valley of Flowers National Park requires permission from the appropriate authority.
  • Any tourist who is interested in featuring a film or documentary film or wants to use a drone during the Valley of Flowers Trek can take permission from the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF Wildlife or Chief Wildlife Warden (CWLW) of Uttarakhand.

Valley of Flowers National Park Tariff Charges Rules

  • To avail student discount on ticket price, an identity card from a Government Institution is must.
  • An Identity Card issued by a Medical Officer or the Social Welfare Department is a must for a Physically Handicapped Tourist.
  • Senior Citizens whose age is 60 years or more will have to show proof of age by showing any government-issued age proof.
  • Young Adult students under 18 years will have to bring their school identity cards.
  • No fees for kids who are below 12 years of age.
  • Showing a Passport at the Checking Counter is a must for Foreign Citizens.

How to Reach the Valley of Flowers

  • Valley of Flowers is situated in Chamoli District of Uttarakhand State at an altitude of 3,858 meters or 12,654 feet above sea level.
  • Tourist can reach the Valley of Flowers through the following ways :-

    By Flight
    • Jolly Grant Airport in the District Dehradun is the nearest connecting Airport.
    • The distance of Jolly Grant Airport from Govindghat is 279 Km.
    • You can hire a taxi from there or reach Rishikesh first to take bus and then reach Govindghat.
    By Train
    • The nearest Railway Station to Valley of Flowers is Yog Nagari Rishikesh Railway Station.
    • The distance of Rishikesh Railway Station from Govindghat is 265 Km which will be covered through Taxi or by Bus.
    By Road
    • The last motorable road to Valley of Flowers is till Govindghat.
    • Govindghat is well connected by road from major bus station like Dehradun ISBT, Rishikesh Bus Stand and Haridwar Bus Stand.
    • Tourist can take the bus and easily reached Govindghat and from there you can take taxi to Pulna Village.
    • From Pulna Village the trek of Valley of Flowers has started.

What You Should Do During Trek

  • Tourist who are planning to visit Valley of Flowers should have follow the below mentioned practices all the time during trek :-

    • Online Registration/ Permit is Mandatory.
    • Avoid Trekking during Bad Weather.
    • Hiring Local Guide and Porter is compulsory for safety and convenience.
    • Trek with Essential Items like Waterproof Jacket, Waterproof Pants, First Aid Kit, Water, Food etc.
    • Do not Go Off Trail.
    • Use Available Toilets Only, Do not Defecate in Open.
    • Aware about High Altitude Sickness.
    • Respect Wildlife and Nature.
    • Have in Constant Contact with the Forest Department.
    • Forest Department will not be responsible for any Mishap, Injury, Accident, Death of a Tourist during Trek.

What You Should Not Do During Trek

  • Government of Uttarakhand has strict instructions for Tourist to not indulge in any of the below mentioned activity during Trek to Valley of Flowers. If any Tourist break the rules and regulation then an appropriate action as per law will be taken against them.

    • Do not make unnecessary and excessive noise. (Shout only in case of emergency)
    • Do not litter trash or bury it.
    • Do not use those products which have strong scents.
    • Do not carry or use any fuelwood, camping stoves during the trek.
    • Flying Drone is strictly prohibited without the permission of Chief Wildlife Wared of Forest Department.
    • Do Not uproot any flora and fauna, it is illegal/
    • Do not leave open fires or cigarette buts.
    • Do not consume alcohol, drugs, aerated drinks during trek.
    • Do not throw intoxicants or plastic or any type of bottles.
    • Do not carry ammunition or firearms and chemicals which can harm wildlife.
    • Do not make a disturbing environment for plants and animals.
    • No shooting, hunting and teasing of wild animals is permissible.
    • Do not carry any pet or wild animal with you.
    • Do not deface any sign board.
    • Do not write or paint on tree, pillar, rock or anything.
    • Do not play loud music without headphone.
