Both these base camps are easily accessible by bus from Rishikesh, Haridwar, and Dehradun.

Best time to undertake the Kuari Pass for Trekking

Apart from the rainy season (July and August), the rest of the months are ideal for trekking. It's each season, notably summer, spring, autumn, and winter, offers a unique experience to its trekkers.
 

In winter, the region is covered in a thick blanket of snow, which transforms the place into a winter wonderland. However, during these times, the weather is extremely cold and can cause various challenges.
 

During autumn, it is an ideal time for those who want to enjoy crisp views of the region. The towering snow-clad mountains and clear blue sky create a magnificent view.
 

Summer (May to June) offers the most comfortable temperature for travellers. The days are bright and sunny, while the nights may feel extremely cold.
 

The lush green meadow and snow-peaked mountain in the background are the perfect views that can only be experienced during the spring season (March to April). During this time, the red rhododendron flowers add a unique charm to the region.

Kuari Pass Trek Short Itinerary

Day 1: Drive from Rishikesh to Pipalkoti or Karchi
  • Drive from Rishikesh to Pipalkoti, or you can drive further to Karchi, depending on the accommodation you have booked.
  • The total distance is around 213 km, which takes around 7 hours to reach Pipalkoti.
  • If you choose to drive to Karchi, it will take an additional 2 hours.
  • Check into your accommodation and give your body some rest to adapt to conditions.
Day 2: Pipalkoti to Karchi and trek to Tugasi
  • Drive from Pipalkoti to Karchi, which is around 54 km away and takes 2 hours.
  • From there, start your trek to Tugasi, which is around 3 km away.
  • The trek will take around 3 hours to reach.
Day 3: Gulling Top to Tali Forest Camp
  • On the third day, you have to trek from Tugasi to Tali Forest Camp, which is about 5 km away.
  • The trek will approximately take 5 hours to complete.
Day 4: Tali Forest Camp to Kuari Pass Top and back to Tali Forest Camp via Khullara Top
  • This will be the toughest day of the trek, where you have to cover around 11 km.
  • The distance will cover the Kuari Pass top and then return to Tali Forest Camp.
  • The total trek will take approximately 9 hours.
Day 5: Tali Forest Camp to Pipalkoti via Gurson Bugyal and Auli
  • On our return journey, you will pass through Gurson Bugyal and Auli.
  • The trekking distance is 9 km, which will take around 7 hours.
  • After reaching Auli, drive back to Pipalkoti, which is around 45 km away.
  • The drive will take around 2 hours to reach.
Day 6: Drive Back to Rishikesh
  • On the last day of the journey, trekkers will leave for their origin point, i.e. Rishikesh.
  • The drive will take around 9 hours to reach.

  • The journey to one of the most popular winter treks starts from Rishikesh, the gateway to Garhwal. Known as the world's Yoga capital, Rishikesh provides excellent connectivity from its neighbouring cities.
  • It is easily accessible by road, rail and air.
  • Though Rishikesh doesn't offer direct air connectivity, the nearest airport, Jolly Grant Airport, is just 16 km away and provides direct air connectivity from major cities.
  • Rishikesh rail connectivity from the National Capital is limited, so the Haridwar railway station will be a perfect choice for those travelling by train.
  • From Haridwar, Rishikesh is just an hour's drive.
  • Besides this, Rishikesh can also be reached by road using a bus and a taxi.
